Learning on the Way:
Resourcing for LLWL's
Advent/Christmas and Incarnation
Three monthly Sessions, and asynchronous forum discussion in between sessions.
The live sessions will run for 90 minutes each.
These round table discussions are designed to provide continuing support and education for people who are currently serving the church as Licensed Lay Worship Leaders. The curriculum includes recommended readings, questions for reflection, invitations to begin crafting liturgy, and forums where you can engage with other LLWL's. Small groups will meet on Zoom monthly to discuss the readings with each other and a mentor.
This Fall we'll be looking at the Advent/Christmas readings coming up in the Lectionary, and discussing the theological concept of "Incarnation." If you're planning on leading worship this November and December, join us to get a head start on your planning.
The sessions in this round of Learning on the Way focus on the seasons of Advent and Christmas. You will be invited to engage scriptures that are in the lectionary for Year A. These scriptures may coincide with Sundays that you will be leading worship. If they do not and you want to use the scriptures from the Sunday(s) that you are leading worship, feel free to do so.
The engagement with the scriptures is paired with a look at various aspects of the doctrine of the Incarnation. In response to God’s Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us, we bring our ordinary, everyday lives into our worship and into our discipleship.
In particular, this time around, we look at the role of John the Baptist in preparing us for Jesus’ advent into our midst, the amazing risk of vulnerability that God takes in Jesus, the ways in which that shapes our journey through the trauma and disruption that are part of these days.
NB. If you're not already licensed as a worship leader and you're considering getting training, select this to learn about our online course.
