Natalie Wigg-Stevenson is Associate Professor of Contextual Education and Theology at Emmanuel College (Toronto), where she also directs the Contextual Education and MDiv programs. She’s been teaching in ecclesial and higher education contexts for over twenty years, and is particularly passionate about practice-based learning and fostering the kinds of relationships that will help us decolonize our pedagogical imaginations.

“Learning Design for Discipleship” is for anyone who wants to teach Christians well. Across five modules, you’ll learn how to use the best practices of pedagogical design to create a transformative learning experience for your own work context. “Learning Design for Discipleship” teaches you using hands-on activities, which means that upon completion you will have both a ready-to-teach course that you can put to use right away and practical knowledge of the principles and skills you need for all your future course design.
Whether you’re a minister who wants to develop a Bible study or bolster the discipleship dimensions of a sermon series, a denominational administrator or consultant looking to create continuing education opportunities for the ministers in your care (perhaps even for this ChurchX platform!), or a graduate student or faculty person seeking to nurture your pedagogical skills for theological education, “Learning Design for Discipleship” will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to do so with excellence and confidence.
There are a number of ways to access “Learning Design for Discipleship”:
Learning Design for Discipleship: Self-Directed
Self-Directed: Our most flexible option, the self-directed program lets you begin and end the course whenever you’d like, and to move at your own pace through it. This option does not facilitate engagement with other learners or the instructor. Learners will have access to course materials for 6 months following the course conclusion.
Course structure:
Self-directed reading: 7 hours.

Do you want one-on-one guidance to design your course or education plan? Natalie is available for consultation with individuals or teams to help you develop courses or entire education plans for your community.
Consultation can be purchased as an add-on to a self-directed or pod-based engagement with the course. We can also create a bespoke consulting package for you or your team’s particular needs.
